Benoit Roger: The Influence of Distillation Parameters on Essential Oil Yield and Composition

The Influence of Distillation Parameters on Essential Oil Yield and Composition

Benoit Roger, PhD

Benoit’s presentation will be focused on the impact of the distillation technique (steam distillation or water distillation) as well as various parameters such as the harvest time, wilting, distillation length or distillation pressure and temperature on the yield and chemical composition of essential oils.

Biography

Benoit is an experienced professional with over 15 years of expertise in the field of essential oils, hydrolats, and plant extracts. His work primarily involves the production, research, and analysis of these products. He holds a Ph.D. which he obtained in Nice, the south of France, close to the Grasses industry.

Currently, Benoit resides in Canada (QC) where he works with the Laboratoire Phytochemia as a valuable collaborator. He founded Alchemia Solutions with his colleagues, where he develops and sells small to medium stainless stills, and provides consulting services in the field.

In addition, Benoit organizes and teaches various workshops about distillation, chemistry, and analysis, and also teaches analytical and instrumental chemistry at the local university (UQAC).
